New African Elephant Sculpture is installed at the Zoo’s new South Entrance.

The magnificent African Elephant sculpture by Kent Ullberg was installed Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the south entrance of the Saint Louis Zoo. Check out the time lapse video of the event at Vimeo.

The “Z” is placed atop the Zoo Sculpture at its new location near I-64.

Lots going on at the Zoo these days as the new construction at the South Entrance nears completion.

On Friday, April 9, they were finishing up the installation of the ZOO sculpture at its new location near I-64. Check out this time lapse video of the event.

The Trombones of the Saint Louis Symphony recently released their debut CD, entitled 4.1. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Quartet on several projects, and contributed the cover shot for this effort. The excellent graphics and layout work is by Benjamin Krueger Design.

Departure

This is the Quartet’s first CD release, but not the first time they’ve recorded as a group. They can be heard together playing three Bruckner Motets on Gerry Pagano’s 2009 release, Depature.

stlzoo, Winter Edition, 2010

I contributed photos for several of the articles in the current issue of stlzoo (Winter, 2010), including the photo of the Bald Eagle on the cover. I’ve worked with the good folks at stlzoo for a number of years, but the "Zootography 101" cover story is the first article I’ve written for the magazine. Read the PDF version here.

Clint Edmonson and I will be leading both beginning and advanced zoo photography classes at the Saint Louis Zoo in May of this year. Note: Both classes are now full.
