About Ray Meibaum |
|
For over 35 years I’ve enjoyed discovering and expressing the beauty of the world around us through photographs.
My work centers on discovery and realization, and I have strived to develop the ability to "see," to recognize
opportunities for making good photos. The allure is to be able to view a scene and visualize the potential for
beauty and interest, and then to employ the technical skills necessary to realize that visualization. The ability to
share that vision with the viewer is where the satisfaction lies.
The Prints I enjoy making a fine print as much as any other aspect of photography. This is the reward, the concrete expression of one’s art in a digital world. Today’s archival digital printing processes produce prints of exceptional quality, highly reflective of the artist’s intent, and several times more stable than traditional color prints. I personally make all of my prints using Epson archival pigment inks on fine archival paper. This combination of materials ensures a long print life of 100+ years.
"Art is love and friendship and understanding: the desire to give. It is not charity, which is the giving of things. It is more than kindness, which is the giving of self. It is both the taking and giving of beauty, the turning out to the light the inner folds of the awareness of the spirit." - Ansel Adams in a letter to Cedric Wright, 1937. |
